The Freakin' Freezin' Race was....Freezin'!!

 A race that lives up to its name?  YES!  For the 2nd consecutive year the Freakin' Freezin' Race has lived up to its name.  This has become a fan favorite over the years.  As a matter of fact, this year we had the second highest number of registrants in the 7th year of the event.  The largest race was in 2021 when we had just over 250 signed up.  This year, we had 210.  As you know, we ended up capping the race as I did not want to run out of finisher medals!  

From talking to a few participants, it seemed like the new course went over pretty well.  Adding a new "portion" to a course is never a bad thing, as I know people get tired of running the same courses over and over again.  A few also asked, when are you bringing back the Freakin' Frozen race?  This was due to the fact they liked the interlocking medals we had the last 2 years.  Well, I'm really not sure to be honest.  Maybe next year??

Our next event is right back at the same place, the Chocolate Charge 5K on February 14.  Our plan (at this point) is to start rotating the Chocolate Charge 5K with our Presidents' Day Race we had for 4 years in a row.  So in 2027, the Presidents' Day Race.  In 2028, the Chocolate Charge 5K, etc.

Farmer & Frenchman Winery Run/Walk

​It’s back!  The Farmer & Frenchman run is officially back and will take place on March 15.  The last time we had the event was 2019.  We were supposed to have it again in 2021, however, we had to scrap it due to a surge in covid cases around the time it was supposed to be. A big thank you to Hubert & Katy for allowing us to have it!   Personally, Farmer & Frenchman is one of my families favorite local places to eat.  Every time we go, it’s excellent.  Having never had brunch before, we are really looking forward to March 15.  The website to register at is www.tristatefit.com/ffwinery.  Please make sure to look at all the info on the race site as it explains what will be going on for those who get brunch and those who do not.   Can’t wait to see you all on March 15!

RAIN & WIND

Two words that a race director does not like to use...and those two words we had to deal with for our last two events (Rain and Wind).  After 107 races, this month was the first time we had to deal with both on back to back weekends.  For the LST race, we kept an eye on the forecast the entire week.  Rain we can deal with, lightening we can't.  Although we moved the start time up to 7:35am and shortened the course to 2 miles, we still got hit with a pretty good downpour during the race.  However, there was no lightening in our vicinity luckily so the race continued and everyone was able to finish.  This will go down as the 2nd wettest race we have had.  Nothing will top the Patriot Race from several years back that included thunder, lightening and a torrential downpour.  I don't think a tornado could be ruled out close by for that one.  The starting gun that race was a Howitzer Cannon courtesy of the local National Guard, so that made it all...
